Marina Overview

Shearwater Marina is a private marina operated exclusively for the use and enjoyment of owners and residents of Shearwater Condominiums.  Our marina includes 61 slips, 13 spaces for dinghy storage, and 32 spaces for kayaks.  The Dockmasters are:

The 61 slips for larger vessels are of two types.  Those that are owned by the association and rented to individuals are classified as GCE (General Common Elements), while those owned by individual unit owners are classified as LCE (Limited Common Elements).   There are 33 GCE slips and 28 LCE slips.  All of the spaces for dinghy and kayak storage are GCE and rented from the association. Electricity and water are available to all users of the marina facilities at no charge.  However it is requested that everyone attempt to conserve this usage to the extent possible since these utility costs eventually show up in everyone’s fees.
To rent a slip from the association you must be an owner of a unit.  If an owner has rented their unit to a tenant, then the owner can rent a slip for their tenant as well.  All users are required to show proof of ownership and liability insurance.  Current 2011 rental rates for GCE slips or storage spaces are:

  • Slip rental is $47.32 per foot of overall boat length (LOA) per year
  • Dinghy storage is $130 per year per dinghy.
  • Kayak storage is $31.20 per year per kayak.

For any additional information, or to identify current availability of slips or spaces, please contact one of the Co-Dockmasters.  These individuals maintain a current listing of available GCE slips and spaces, as well as “wait lists” if there are not enough spaces currently available.  Wait lists are also kept for specific slip requests, such as “along-side dockage”, etc.   If you have a specific need please contact the Dockmasters.              

LCE slip owners do not pay rent to the association, but they do pay an annual maintenance fee for the association to maintain the physical construction.  Owners of LCE slips may rent their slips only to other unit owners or tenants just as the association rents GCE slips.  This is a private transaction between the LCE slip owner and the prospective slip tenant.  The association is not involved in the process, but the association still requires the owners of these slips to provide proof of ownership and liability insurance for any vessels in these slips.  Below is a listing of LCE slips where the owners have indicated an interest in renting their slips.  The owner’s name and contact information can be obtained by accessing the “Marina Slip Assignments” to obtain the name of the owner, and then the “Shearwater Directory” to obtain the contact information.
